This is the official thread for the Grand Rapids Metro Cruise this year.
Why? Because I said so.

THE TIME
The event will be on Saturday the 23rd of August.
We have the front row of East Nissan facing 28th ST all day saturday!
We will be setting up around 9:30 am, show up early to get a good spot!

20% DISCOUNT ON NISSAN PARTS
Since he's such a swell guy, John Boomgaard will be present keeping the parts department open between 10am and 1pm, and offering a 20% DISCOUNT ON PARTS!
For you folks coming in from out of town, you may wish to call ahead and order your parts, in order to have them available for pickup the day of the event. Here is the contact information:

CAR WASH
We may have the wash bay available for use, awaiting confirmation.

We will be having a sweet cookout!
There will be Hamburgers, hot dogs, and beverages available most of the day, starting around 11am.
The cookout will be taken care of by Myself and Jestin (and whoever else we can rope into this), so all you need to do is bring $3.00 cash and you can eat as much as you want.

Our spot is confirmed, we'll have the front lot again for this year's cruise! I'm working with dealership management on setting up some more participation from them this year. More details to follow!

sweet! It will be nice to have a nice spot to park. did the cruise really go down that far east past the beltline though? I guess I didn't really go down that way last year, I pretty much went from woodland to roger's and figured that's where most of the action was. i know I'll be able to park here and another car club I'm in will have a spot at discount on 28th as well

That is where most of the action is located, there isn't quite as much activity down our way but there's always plenty to see. I wish we were further down but short of organizing something at the Ford dealership I'm not sure what sort of pull I have at any better locations owned by the company I work for. I chose the Nissan dealership because it is a Nissan dealership and because I know them the best (I do most of the IT stuff at that store). I haven't really heard any complaints of lack of activity before if that means anything to you.

I think it's actually a little nicer since you can get on or off I-96 only a half mile or so away. That way you're not stuck in standstill traffic if you don't want to be.

Do you mean having a bunch of random people show up and checking out our cars there, or people driving by?
I think it was more people going by. This is still a more domestic type event so a bunch of Japanese cars will usually get overlooked.

Last year we had a great time, lots of people eyballing us as they drove by, and a number of people dropped by to compliment the rides.

YES!!! I am down for that. I have a 3 hour drive to get there! Bugs galore.
